Anxiety
Worry that will not switch off, a body that stays braced, and decisions that feel heavier than they should.
People describe anxiety in very different ways. Some of it is mental: a loop of what-ifs, rehearsing conversations that have not happened, checking things twice. Some of it is physical and arrives before the thought does, as a tight chest, a short temper, a stomach that reacts to the calendar. Often what brings someone in is not the worry itself but what it has started to cost: sleep, driving, work that used to be routine, saying yes to things.
You do not need a diagnosis before you call. A first appointment is an hour, and most of it is you describing what a normal week looks like now and what it looked like before.
Where people start here. Some start with Therapy, which is the option if you want to work on how anxiety shows up and what to do in the moment. Others start with a Psychiatric Evaluation, which is the longer first conversation with a prescriber and the appointment that comes before any discussion of medication. Neither commits you to the other, and if you are not sure which fits, say so on the phone and we will help you choose.
Appointments run one hour, in person in Bowie or by telehealth. We see adults 18 and over. Most insurance plans are accepted, and the insurances page lists which.
